The Coast Guard recently awarded a Meritorious Public Service award to Roy Bleiberg, former director of the American Bureau of Shipping’s Global Gas Solutions. Bleiberg was recognized for his support to the Coast Guard as a leading advocate for safe, clean and viable transport and use of liquefied and compressed gases within the maritime industry.
The award was presented by Cmdr. Jason Smith, commander of the Coast Guard’s Liquefied Gas Carrier National Center of Expertise.
“It is an honor to be able to present Roy with the Coast Guard’s Meritorious Public Service award on behalf of Vice Adm. Fred Midgette,” he said. “As the former Director of ABS’s Global Gas Solution, Roy has displayed unparalleled support to the Coast Guard as a liquefied gas technical expert on various projects and in serving as a critical member of the U.S. Delegation to the International Maritime Organization throughout the development of international standards. Roy continuously went above and beyond to share his expertise and coordinated numerous Coast Guard training opportunities reaching hundreds of our members.”
“His actions throughout this time period are more than deserving of one of the Coast Guard’s highest public service awards,” Smith added.
