Update: 2 August 2013- According to a comment on Facebook, two of the straps that secured the helicopter to the deck apparently broke in a strong gust, causing this incident.

Original:

Yesterday morning, the crew on board the M/Y Atessa IV found out first-hand what happens when you forget to secure the helicopter to the helicopter pad and the wind picks up.

The yacht was anchored in Bay De Beaulieu, near Monaco.

At 100 meters in length, the Atessa IV was the longest motor yacht yet delivered from North America in November 2010. Her delivery in 2010 from the Washington Yachting Group was a refit however, one that added 30 feet to her length for her new owner, American businessman Dennis Washington, Chairman of Washington Group International.

She was originally built for Chang Yung Fa, Chairman of Taiwanese shipping firm, Evergreen in 1999.

You can see video of the yacht HERE.
