The 18,800 TEU MV Barzan was looking pretty good as it arrived at the London Gateway on Saturday nearly two weeks after a fire broke out in one of its cargo holds as the ship was underway off the coast of Spain.
Unfortunately for customers in the UK, however, the fire forced the vessel to skip its scheduled stop in Felixstowe, diverting instead to Rotterdam for inspections followed by an impromptu call at London Gateway on Saturday – about 10 days late and 100 miles from Felixstowe.
The 2015-built MV Barzan is considered the flagship of the United Arab Shipping Company fleet and operates on the Ocean Three alliance’s Asia-Europe service calling at ports in southeast Asia followed by Rotterdam, Hamburg and Felixtowe.
