An investigation has been launched into a fire on board the platform supply vessel Skandi Stolmen offshore Brazil.
According to DOF Group, the fire broke out Wednesday on board the 1977-built PSV while operating in Brazil’s Campos Basin. The vessel is operated by Norskan Offshore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of DOF ASA.
DOF says that all sixteen crewmembers were evacuated safely to other vessels and have since disembarked in Macaé. It was confirmed that the incident did not cause any environmental harm, DOF said.
Skandi Stolmen was one of five ships sold in February to Brazilian private equity companies by DOF ASA. Norskan Offshore however remains operator of the vessel. Skandi Stolmen commenced a 4-year charter contract with Petrobras in Q3 2013.
