Update: Grounded Bulk Carrier Stopping Traffic on St. Lawrence River

Polsteam’s 621-foot handysize bulk carrier Juno grounded today as she was making her way through the St. Lawrence Seaway and has taken on water in one of her forward ballast tanks, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

The vessel was heading inbound to Toronto with a cargo of sugar when she suffered a steering casualty and ran hard aground in the vicinity of the Thousands Islands Bridge. Traffic through the seaway is currently suspended, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
