This is all in Russian, but the video speaks for itself…

Essentially the Russian Navy boarded a pirate ship and freed some Russian seafarers who had just been captured by pirates.  Then the Russians handcuffed all the pirates to the pirate ship, and blew it up.

***UPDATE***

According to a Telegraph News Report from 2009, the pirates in this video were not, in fact, set on fire and blown up in cold blood by the Russians, but were taken in custody on board the destroyer Admiral Panteleev.

History shows us that, like the Caribbean, we are only going to clean up this area with a zero tolerance approach.
Ships taken as Mother ships should be sunk unequivocally- owners would then take more care about protection and Insurance would not be available to those who did not take BMP3 into account as a bare minimum…
Do we have the full story about this Russian exercise… why was the ship taken in the first place… could this just be propaganda- I doubt it.
Morre and more counties are willing to apply the death penalty.
On the down side, this is going to escalate things due to Financiers/ Gangsters starting to look bad and losing money!!!

It should be obvious to all that the Pirates and their arms were being held on the flight deck of the Russian war ship.  WATCH the videp

Attention Pirates: Don’t F&*$ with the Russians… This is what should be done

Moral issues?! Do you prefer that under ‘human rights’ propaganda to let these bandits go free and continue catching, torturing and eventually killing seamen? I, certainly do not! That is a war without prisoners to be taken, because no there is no ‘human rights’ known at Somali coast…
Recently we have a lot of ‘human’ NATO bombing of Libya, but no question asked on moral aspect… perhaps all NATO bombs are ‘human rights’ approved.

If you find a coyote with in a chicken coop, you wouldn’t let it feed you BS about how it’s a farmer! You would bring the same faith it wishes on others!

The first pirate vessel to be blown out of the water was by an Indian warship INS Tabar. she retaliated after being fired upon. Later propagandists claim she had sunk an “innocent” Thai trawler. Since then with the area of operations having widened pirate vessels have been captured by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard in the Indian EEZ i.e. 200 miles of the coast. A legal problem is that Indian laws have no provisions on what to do with pirates. i understand some legislative steps are being taken to resolve this issue.

A fallout of the aggressive patrolling and counter piracy operations has been that in one reported case, Indian seamen in a mixed crew ship were detained after the ransom had been paid.

Don’t F&*$ with the Russians…they may be crude in many ways, but don’t let perfection become the enemy of necessity. I love the way they handle this type of situation.  It is too bad that the Pirates didn’t get a chance to experience the full force of the Russian responders as falsely reported.

A sent a this to a friend who speaks Russian. He said they did not blow up the pirates, only the ship.

I heard about this story a few months ago from a security contractor.  He told me that when he was running security on a Russian ship, that this story (or one like it) was passed around frequently.  However, it always ended with the pirates being blown up.  Despite what the Russians may be saying as the vessel is blown up, I find it strange that in the video, you cannot hear the explosion at all.  It appers to be fairly close, and an explosion of that magnitude would surely produce some sort of sound at that distance.  I have only done some limited video/audio editing, but it appears to me that the audio was cut out and replaced by these russians talking.
