Troms Offshore has placed an order for a new PSV from STX Brevik in Norway that is expected strengthen its North Sea operations.
Troms says the vessel will be built to STX PSV 108 CD design and includes Clean Design notation and environmentally friendly diesel-electric propulsion. The vessel, which is scheduled for delivery in March 2013, will have a deck space of 830 square meters. If contract includes the option for second identical vessel that, if exercised, will be delivered in May 2013.
“This order is an important part of the establishment of a leading PSV shipping company with modern, environmentally friendly tonnage strategically positioned towards the development of Norwegian oil and gas operations and the activity increase expected for the Northern areas,” said Mr. Lunde, CEO of Troms Offshore. “We are also pleased to be able to further develop our relation with the STX group and in particular STX Brevik which over several years have executed a number of successful projects within our sector.“
Troms Offshore currently operates a fleet of 15 offshore service vessels from its home port in Tromsø, Norway, including four large Clean Design PSVs with at least 1,000 square meter deck area. Troms says that the company hopes to take a leading position within offshore supply services industry in the North Sea, particularly as activity picks up in the Northern and Arctic areas. Troms’ fleet is mostly crewed by officers and crew from North Norway.
