Ship traffic in the Bosphorus strait was halted for about an hour Monday after a bulk carrier collided with a roll-on/roll-off vessel around the Anadolu Hirasi area near Istanbul, GAC shipping agency reported Tuesday.
The accident occurred just after 2 p.m. and involved the Maltese-flagged bulk carrier Sid Capri and the Grimaldi Lines Ro-Ro Grande Anversa.
Both vessels were damaged in the collision.

Turkey’s maritime safety authorities confirmed the incident and posted pictures of the vessels online.
GAC reports that the collision occurred due to rudder malfunction aboard one of the vessels. The waterway was reopened at 3:06 p.m.
