A gCaptain contributor sent us the following image over the weekend of Diamond Offshore’s new drillship, Ocean BlackHornet, now located in the Gulf of Mexico.
The rig was delivered in Q4 2014 by Hyundai Heavy Industries at a price north of $600 million. The Ocean BlackHornet is a Gusto P10,000 DW design and features a dual-activity derrick with a maximum hook-load capacity of 1,250 tons and two seven-ram blowout preventers. The rig can operate in water depths up to 12,000 feet and drilling depth capabilities up to 40,000 feet.
The Ocean BlackHornet will be on contract to Anadarko until April 2020.
