Here is TOTE 2, aka Hull 496, as it is readied for its launch this Saturday at the General Dynamics NASSCO shipyard in San Diego.
TOTE 2 is the second in TOTE Maritime’s LNG-powered Marlin-class, the world’s first containerships to be powered by liquefied natural gas. You can clearly see the green LNG fuel tanks housed on the stern.
The first vessel in the series, Isla Bella, was launched in April and is due for delivery later this year. TOTE 2 will follow in Q1 2016. The vessel will also be named this Saturday during the launch ceremony that is open to the public.
