This weeks incident photo is of the 584-foot car carrier, M/V Luminous ACE, aground at Puget Island near Cathlamet, WA, September 22. The vessel grounded after an electrical problem knocked out its steering Thursday evening on the Columbia River.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Astoria was diverted to the scene to provide an initial search for signs of pollution or damage to the vessel, none of which was found.
The vessel has since been refloated and is anchored off Astoria Friday according to a report from the Houston Chronicle. The Philippines-flagged vessel is owned by Kapalaran Shipping Inc. of Manila.
