About a week or two before the drilling moratorium was lifted in the Gulf of Mexico, the Statoil-contracted Discoverer Americas pulled anchor and motored east loaded to the gills with their entire casing program they plan to use while conducting exploratory drilling operations in the ultra-deepwater off Egypt.
They are currently “jetting in” 36-inch diameter casing, which is the first string of pipe set into the sea floor that helps provide the structural support for the rest of the well.
