*UPDATE* We just got word from Liberty Maritime that we definitely got some bad info, and it’s nowhere near as clear cut as our inital report this morning.
That being said, please disregard this story that we reported earlier:
We just received a report that the Captain and Chief Mate of the RoRo vessel Prestige New York were arrested, or otherwise detained in the port of Kobe, Japan after officials boarded their ship in connection with a recent vessel collision off Japan.
gCaptain sources mentioned that the Japanese officials claim they were able to trace the paint found on the damaged vessel to that of the Prestige New York.
The vessel is reportedly on its way to Nagoya, Japan, along with the Captain and Chief Mate, however restrictions have been placed on both individuals pending the outcome of the Japanese investigation.
