Allseas’ monstrosity, the Pieter Schelte, is currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) in Okpo, Korea. As you can see from the below satellite image, it nearly completely fills up the entire dry dock at DSME.

Since this image was taken, the Pieter Schelte has been launched and is currently undergoing outfitting.  The other huge containership ships in the frame are the new Maersk Triple-E class containerships currently under construction.

While at OTC last week, I caught up with one of Allseas’ engineers who commented that the vessel has already signed it’s first contract with Shell in the North Sea for a yet undisclosed amount.
