Two crew members aboard the Ensco-104 jack-up rig were killed on Saturday, 18 October when the lifeboat they were working on unexpectedly let go and fell to the water 150 feet below.  The incident occurred just after 2300.

According to a gCaptain source, a work permit and job safety analysis (JSA) was present at the scene of the incident.

The rig, under contract to SapuraKencana offshore Malaysia, has been shut down until an investigation into the matter has been completed.

Ensco-104 is a KFELS MOD V – Class ‘B’ -design jack-up drilling rig capable of drilling in waters up to 400 feet deep.
