DSME Wins Jack-Up Newbuild Order, First Since 1983

maersk jack-upDaewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) announced today a 572.8 billion KRW (USD $534 million) jack-up rig newbuild order from Maersk Drilling.

The new rig is scheduled for delivery by mid-2016 and is aimed for use in the North Sea.

In their statement, DSME notes that this is their first large jack-up order they’ve won since 1983.
