During a leg of the Volvo Ocean Race late last month, Team Vestas Wind’s 65-foot racing yacht hit a charted reef north of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean while doing about 19 knots. Remarkably, none of the 9 people onboard suffered any serious injury. The same can’t be said about the boat.
