A CMA CGM containership allided with the pier Jawaharlal Nehru Port outside Mumbai, India on Saturday, causing damage to the pier and unknown damage to the ship.
The vessel has been identified as the CMA CGM Mumbai, a 335-meter containership that was only recently delivered earlier this year.
Reports say the ship was coming in to dock when it lost control and struck the pier despite efforts to stop the vessel.
Officials said there was no major damage as a result of the incident.
According to CMA CGM’s website, the Hong Kong-flagged CMA CGM Mumbai has a nominal TEU capacity of 10,100 and operates on the FAL – ASIA – EUROPE service route. Delivery was May 21, 2018. It is operated by Seaspan.
