Some really big explosions: Minor scale & misty picture c. 4800t ea., Heligoland c. 4-6500t, but all around the island, Texas City c. 2-4000t, Port Chicago c. 5000t, Pepcon c. 1000t, Morgan (Sayerville, NJ), c1-2000t, Black tom (Jersey City) up to 1000t, Nixon Nitration, not well known, (Edison, NJ), perhaps 4000t, Oppau up to 4500t, Fauld, c. 3700t, Picatinny Arsenal (NJ) c. 500-1000t, not all at once, Ripple rock, 1375t, Medeo Dam 3600 and 3900t in two blasts years apart. Bombay docks c. 1400t.

One good source is Biasutti's History of Eccidents in the Explosives Industry. I don't have the volume in front of me, so the spelling of the author's name and title might be a little off. Wikipedia has a good list too.

Of these blasts, 4 happened in NJ, my home state - ouch!

This articles title needs to be changed. One of the worlds largest non-nuclear explosion leveled most of Halifax in 1917 and involved nearly twice the explosives (http://www3.sympatico.ca/goweezer/canada/blowup.htm).
There is a more extensive list of the largest non-nuclear explosions on wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_largest_non-nuclear_explosions).
