With a whopping 1,134 votes, the first place winner in the annual Coast Guard Rescue Video Competition is… Surf’s Up!

The video, shot in the first person and edited to some fist pumping dubstep, was put together by crews at Station Coos Bay and features the extreme environment of the Pacific Northwest as boat crews battle waves and weather off the Oregon Coast.     I remember watching them roll the 44′s off the bar from the lookout over Bastendorf Beach above the south jetty when I was a kid. The Umpqua River bar was another great place to watch the CG train. Nice video. Thanks for posting and thanks to the Coasties for serving.
