The world’s most popular ride sharing app is expanding its ever-growing modes of transportation to include luxury yachts.
Silicon Valley-based Uber has announced the launch of UberYACHT to debut this weekend in Dubai.
The launch further expands the company’s motto of connecting people with reliable rides by car, helicopter, and even boats through the use of data and technology, and of course its massive user base of people willing to share their possessions with total strangers.
UberYACHT will launch this Saturday in Dubai with a “deluxe yacht party at the tap of an app.” Interested partygoers will need to open the app beginning today to guarantee a spot for up to four people per group. For AED300 per person (about $80 USD), users will enjoy local DJs and complimentary food and drinks while cruising along Dubai’s iconic shoreline on “a yacht of Dubai proportions”, Uber says.
Whether or not Uber intends to keep UberYACHT as a regular service or just a one-off thing is yet to be determined, or at least announced by the company. But for $80 per person a party on a yacht worthy of the ultra-lavish Dubai waterfront sounds like a pretty good deal to me – that is as long as all drinks are included.
