A 480-foot heavy lift cargo ship hit a barge in the Corpus Christi Inner Harbor Thursday night, causing quite the scene but resulting in no pollution and just a minor injury.
The Coast Guard says it responded with state and local partners to reports of the collision between the U.S.-flagged MV Ocean Freedom and a barge owned by Kirby Inland Marine. The barge was moored at the time and not carrying any cargo, the Coast Guard said.
One man from the scene went to Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Shoreline due to possible knee injury.
No pollution has been reported. The barge was not loaded and the cargo ship was carrying steel, the Coast Guard said.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The MV Ocean Freedom was built in 2010 and is owned by Intermarine.
