Did all the pre-enrollment on line. Drove 460 miles round trip to Pasco, Wa. (nearest TWIC center) Completed enrollment screening. Provided pass port, driver's liscense, and Captain's liscense. I'm a Viet Nam era veteran, have an honorable discharge from USMC and was screened and held a Top Secret military clearance. I've complete finger printing and backgrund screening for teacher certification in two states. Completed all screening for 25 ton Captain's liscense. Pay my taxes and never been arrested. I then did my second 460 mile round trip to pick up card. I was denied the card because they couldn't digitally scan my thumb print. Made 115 attempts. Now they tell me I must make another 460 mile round trip. They will attempt to scan thumb again. If it doesn't work they will issue card over the desk. Is this bogus or what? Their help desk is no help. It appears now that no one has the authority or balls to override their faulty electronic equipment and the ONLY form of identification they will accept is a thumb or finger print. When done, I will have spent 30 hours of drive time, three days down from work, $132.50 fee, gas and food, and over 1300 miles on my old Toyota. All I get is another picture ID card that can't be used for anything 'cause they can't scan my prints to prove the card is really mine or that I'm really me. If this is an indication of the overall beauacracy of the nation, we are in serious trouble. I pray for President elect Obama.

While many persons with good computer skill normally don't have problems pre-enrolling for their TWIC, many persons without computer skills have major problems with the process, in particular the requirements attached to the password.

TwicMadeEasy.com was created to assist those transportation workers through the pre-enrollment process.

The TSA and their TWIC program in my opinion by: 1. Improving the production timeline for the credentials (by repairing their machines) 2. Improve the customer service of their phone help-line (by actually answering the phone calls)and 3. Require their contracted enrollment offices to improve their customer service focus (know where to actually locate the credential in their files when a worker comes to pick it up).
