According to local police, “a red bloodlike substance was subsequently found on the ship’s main upper deck by contract workers.”

The captain immediately mustered the crew, however Yavorskyy never showed.

The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office (PPSO) was soon notified and following a thorough search of the vessel, investigators located possible blood evidence on crew members’ clothing, as well as in a living quarters.

The PPSO believes foul play is involved in the crew member’s disappearance.

The M/V Ocean Lion is anchored in the Mississippi River near Mile Marker 78, 12 Mile Anchorage, near Braithwaite.
