This weeks incident photos are of the fire that was burning on Seadrill’s West Atlas jackup oil rig located in the Timor Sea between Australia and Indonesia. BBC tells us:
An oil rig which has leaked thousands of barrels of oil into the Timor Sea over the last 10 weeks has been plugged, the rig’s operators have said.
A massive fire burning on the West Atlas rig has also largely been put out, said PTTEP Australia.
Experts plugged the leak on their fifth attempt by injecting thousands of barrels of mud into the well.
The oil leak, in the Timor Sea between Australia and Indonesia, has endangered marine life, environmentalists said.
PTTEP Australasia, said the fire broke out on Sunday as it made another attempt to plug a leak deep underwater at the West Atlas rig.
The company said it pumped nearly 3,500 barrels of mud into a relief well to plug the leak.

Crude oil tanker M/V Elli broke her back on August 28th after considerable hogging was witnessed while she was in ballast and anchored awaiting drydock near the Suez Canal.
At last report the vessel, managed by Worldwide Green Tankers, was stable but a spokesman said; “It’s time critical because if it sinks where it is, in 25 to 30 metres of water, it will be a hazard to navigation,”
The shipowner and salvers are awaiting permission from Suez authorities to move the vessel. At the time of the incident the M/V Elli had 60 tonnes of fuel oil in the engine-room which was discharged into the sea.
An Egyptian maintenance gang has been cleaning up the spill, which is said not to be of major environmental issue because of the low density of the fuel.

Superferry 9 on better days
The last missing person was rescued a day after a ferry carrying more than 900 people capsized in Philippine waters, officials said Tuesday.
The woman was pulled from the water about 8 p.m. Monday ( 8 a.m. ET), according to the Philippine Coast Guard. The rescue meant everybody was accounted for, authorities said.
Nine people were killed and 958 rescued after the SuperFerry 9 capsized Sunday, officials said.
The ferry had left the city of General Santos bound for Iloilo.
Survivors and their families received medical help and other assistance Sunday, the Coast Guard said. An investigation was to be conducted.
It was the third major incident involving the SuperFerry 9 in the past three years. No fatalities were reported in the other incidents in 2006 and 2007.
Meanwhile, a Panamanian cargo vessel sank off the central coast of the Philippines. The 20 people on board — 18 Filipinos and two South Koreans — were rescued, the Philippine coast guard said.

Original Photo Found HERE.
While this is a rather old story, it just came to our attention through one of our many vast searches on the internet. This photo of a cruise ship shaped hotel in the southern port city of Busan, South Korea. The cruise ship capsized against the dock in Typhoon Maemi in September of 2003. USAToday.com has the full story of the typhoon HERE, but the interesting thing is that capsized ship can still be seen on Google Maps.
