Night Vision Equipment Required by Philippines Govt.

Night Vision USCG Ferries operating in the port of Tagbilaran City, Philippines are being required to use night vision equipment. Five fast ferries have been ordered to suspend night operations until the equipment is installed.

As is typical with most new requirements, an incident is at the root of the change. The port insists that one operator (OceanJet) made a non standard approach resulting in a collision with a unlighted barge. The collision resulted in injuries to 45 passengers.
