This position is located at the Maritime Administration, Ready Reserve Fleet and is under the direct supervision of the Tug Master Supervisor. You will be tasked with the operation of tugs, crane barges and other fleet craft engaged in Fleet maintenance, the movement of ships, personnel, equipment and supplies to, from, and within the Reserve Fleet site.
This position is ideal for a candidate who has training and experience operating/driving public or commercial watercraft upon inland waterways. Also ideal for a candidate who has training and experience operating cranes and loading and unloading cargo, equipment and materials.
The Maritime Administration is the agency within the U.S. Department of Transportation dealing with waterborne transportation. Its programs promote the use of waterborne transportation and its seamless integration with other segments of the transportation system, and the viability of the U.S. merchant marine. The Maritime Administration works in many areas involving ships and shipping, shipbuilding, port operations, vessel operations, national security, environment, and safety.
