DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs basic vessel operation procedures and ensures that vessel and equipment conditions are acceptable.
Controls the navigational watch.
Controls the vessel manually, by joystick, or automatically in the dynamic positioning mode.
Ensures that all navigational equipment and publications are in order.
Ensures that all life saving appliances are kept in operational condition and ready for use.
Confers with the deck foreman and chief engineer to keep the vessel in an acceptable seagoing condition.
Reports to the DP Operator concerning the loading condition and stability of the barge.
Job Requirements :
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Holds and maintains a USCG and Flag State license of Chief Mate, ocean, steam or motor, unlimited tonnage with radar observer endorsement.
Holds FCC and Flag State GMDSS license.
Holds currents STCW endorsements applicable to vessel upon which he/she is serving.
Holds a Nautical Institute Unlimited DP Operators Certificate preferred.
Works a 28/28 rotation in the Gulf of Mexico. Travel is paid.
