Instrumentation and Control Systems Engineer
Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory supports nuclear propulsion systems for U.S. Navy ships by designing the worlds most technologically advanced, safe and reliable reactor plants and systems. Entry level positions are currently open for instrumentation and control system engineers to design, test, deploy, and support Instrumentation and Control (I&C) systems for both the existing and next generation reactor plants. These I&C systems perform reactor protection and control safety critical functions, demanding the highest degree of quality and reliability. Typical roles and responsibilities will include:
· being the subject matter expert on design, operation and maintenance of your assigned system
· defining system level requirements for design changes/modifications to your assigned system
· reviewing vendor’s detailed design to ensure system requirements are being fulfilled
· developing, evaluating and testing I&C concepts for next generation applications
· laboratory testing of equipment to verify technical adequacy and ensure robustness of design
· supporting the training of Navy personnel on the design, operation, and maintenance of the assigned system
· providing emergent support to troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with your assigned system in a timely manner
· developing technical and programmatic recommendations/reports usually requiring the integration across multiple technical disciplines
· working on diverse assignments that support career growth
Job Requirements :
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field of study from an accredited college.
- Specific course work and experience in one or more of the following areas: microprocessor based equipment, control systems, or hardware /software development.
Other Skills : Technical Internship / Co-op experience – Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0 is preferred – Experience in writing Technical Reports – Demonstrated Leadership – C++ programming experience – Ability to articulate technical ideas in a clear and concise manner
