Hyundai Mipo added nearly a half billion dollars to their backlog today with a 16-ship order from an undisclosed Middle Eastern shipowner today.
The order consists of six chemical carriers along with ten product tankers for a consideration of USD $184 million and USD $309 million respectively.
According to the exchange filing, the ships will be delivered by the fourth quarter of 2016.
It seems likely the shipowner is Saudi Arabia-based Bahri. In a statement on their website, they note their plans to expand their fleet by 12 ships by 2014. We have reached out to them for confirmation, but have not yet received a response.
