In fact I believe you can teach a 5 year old this very simple process of Deviation and Variation concept combined with deduced reckoning (aka DR) concept to find where you where faster than any GPS could ever do when the GPS is in the power off mode. I tried very hard to find any word called "ERROR" in Dave's logic in which he approaches this problem which must mean this is a near perfect system of navigation that we all should adapt to add to our current methods of navigating.
