SINGAPORE -(Dow Jones)- Sembcorp Marine Ltd. (S51.SG) Thursday said it secured a US$218.5 million contract to construct a jack-up rig for Gulf Drilling International for its Qatar operations.

The new rig will be based of Sembcorp Marine‘s PPL Shipyard’s Pacific Class 400 series and is scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2013.

“Equipped with technologically advanced drilling capabilities, the rig is specially customised for the intended project and has accommodation for 150 personnel with full hotel services,” Sembcorp Marine said in a statement.
