Bremerton, WA, April 18, 2016– West Coast Maritime Training, Ltd held its grand opening last week with its first class of nine maritime officers. These officers came from as far away Wyoming, central Oregon Montana, and nearby Washington to attend the Leadership and Managerial Skills mandated by the United States Coast Guard. This five-day training is required by all senior licensed maritime deck and engineering officers before 31 December 2016. During this course, the class works through several group scenarios, table top exercises, and case studies exercising leadership and managerial concepts taught by the class and each other! These activities are central along with leadership and management theory, lectures, discussions, and video presentations which are applicable to the maritime officer.
West Coast Maritime Training only provides maritime training courses approved by the United States Coast Guard. It also provides on-site leadership and management training anywhere in the United States with private institutions, companies, universities, and government ship owners. Present customers range from Ketchikan, Alaska to Jacksonville, Florida. West Coast Maritime Training is home based in Bremerton, Washington.
