    Default Tax deductions for travel

Can anyone tell me, are costs for flights from my home state to my work area a legitimate tax deduction? I've gone back and forth on this and would like an answer.
    Thnx,

I have always deducted every work expense that my employer doesn't reimburse me for. Travel (gas, tolls, airfare, subway tokens, anything) equipment (tools, clothes, boots, etc) and anything administrative like TWIC and license.

A lot of guys claim per diem for meals too. Just make sure you subtract the daily amount your employer gives you for food.

My employer pays for my travel, but when I shipped out of the hall, I deducted my travel that I paid out pocket for. I deduct everything that my employer does not reimburse me for
