They have some new boats but they also have some old junk. I have also hear their pay is on the lower end.

Don't worry about the company. Be safe and learn. I have seen some of their captains do remarkable things with their equipment. Be respectful, do what your told, watch, learn, and listen. They don't have the flashy new equipment but that is not a bad thing. You will learn more of the basics in that situation and appreciate things more down the line.

The oilfield is what you make it. You can start at the bottom and work your way up. Don't listen to the naysayers and learn something everyday. It may be, "Well I know how do not want to lead..." or "...I don't want to get in that situation again, that's for sure." and keep the good attitude. I am a cranky old dude now but I try not to take it out on others though not everyone is like me.

    Good Luck!

I worked for Bo Truc for a while. The equipment for the most part is old and rustic. Although they do have some new builds, I wouldn't expect to be placed on board one of them. Its a great stepping stone for gaining experience and learning the basics and, for the most part, they do take good care of the employees.. The pay is a bit subpar, but beggars can't be choosers. Heed the advice from BMCSretired, and you'll do just fine.

We all have worked on a boat here or there that was somewhat less than ideal. But the learning experience is worth its weight in gold.

Go. Listen. Learn. Then you can figure out where to jump to later (if you want to).

One of their Capt's just hired on with me. Had been there a long time. Had nothing bad to say about the company. Seemed to really like the Management. I like the looks of some of their old boats. Then again I fly a DC3 so what's that say about me....

You fly "in" a DC3 or you "fly" a DC3? If it's the latter, then I am truly jealous. A better airplane has yet to be built by man! OK, maybe a DeHavilland Beaver but no others!

Taylorcraft is a damn good airplane. 85 mph with only a 65 hp engine. That is more than one mph per hp.

How many other planes can do that.

Oops, this thread is wandering. Mikey is going to show up with his pointy stick

Ok, so maybe the thread has wandered a bit, but at least the Beaver floats. Got to ride in one this past March. Had a great time, even though I hate flying. Not sure about the other plane mentioned.

The DeHavilland otter is a wonderful plane as well. Especially the twin engine turbo variety.

You sound like a guy who just got his first piece of ass and just knows that he's going to marry her.

Don't think for a second that each and every one of these companies will dump up with you and move on to the next guy just like your first if they feel it benefits them.

Seen to many with that attitude let great opportunity pass them by because of that thinking and then they're dumb struck when they get screwed over. While it's fine to enjoy the company your with don't let them take advantage of you but don't be afraid to always keep an eye out for a better deal.

These bayou companies want you to think it's a marriage and act all offended when you go see if there is something better for you out there. Don't forget that this is business as they will kindly remind you when you call up to ask why you just got a pink slip in the mail on your off time.
Getting straight with Nate, because apparently getting right means your going to have to retake Nav Gen
