    Default Electronic Logs

I've got a question about electroic logs. My company is a Harbor Service on the Ohio River. We developed our own Harbor Management software. The issue we are having is that every shift (on/off a boat, to/from a dock, etc.) is recorded electronically on a "Pilot Log" but in order to go paperless, the pilots need the ability to edit their logs. The only regulations I can find are for Station Logs. Would those regs apply to a "pilot log", "watch log", "deck log", "vessel log"? Specifically, if a pilot edits his log, the way I see it is that there needs to be a strike-through font on what they edit, but it will still need to be displayed. Also, I believe that legally they need the ability to edit every piece of information that is recorded before they sign it. Any help would be much appreciated.

Wait, your company is not wanting to keep a paper deck log any longer?

If that's the case being worried about editing the contents are the least of you're worries.
Getting straight with Nate, because apparently getting right means your going to have to retake Nav Gen

We will still have the ability to print out logs, but they will be stored on servers in two different locations in two different parts of the country. They are using iPads to record their movements which records them on a Pilot Log/ Operation Log. I'm not real worried about going paperless, I'm concerned about the legallity of their log once they sign it. I don't want Pilots to sign incorrect logs.

That's what happens with MSC's PC based deck logs.
