Default Global 1200 / Alliance / Northern Marine Manning / Technip

Does anyone work on, or has worked on, the Global 1200?

What is it like, hiring process, working conditions, pay, etc.?

In their job postings I've noticed requirements like OPITO and BOSIET --- specifically stating "not HUET" (nor Safegulf, or Rigpass) --- and some postings ask for current British OGUK physicals, NOT current USCG physicals. At least one posting specifically requires a U.S. B1OCS visa. There seem to be other peculiar requirements that would make it difficult to find many employees in the US who could meet them.

Do they actually hire Americans, or are they just pretending to try to --- only to justify visa requests for foreign workers because supposedly no qualified Americans are available?

I have a friend on there and he is American. They are supposedly heading to Africa, maybe by September. Not sure of their schedule between now & then. If it is Alliance Marine you are talking to I can't imagine they are looking that far ahead. They seem to only hire when they need someone right away.

The BOISET is somewhat similar to the basic STCW classes. With the HUET, you have to do this with a rebreather. We just had to do this all for a job we have in the North Sea.

For the British Physical, it is a UKOOA physical. I found it similar to a USCG one, but not any doctor can give this physical. There are certain ones that are approved.

PM me and I can give you a little more scoop.

They just hired me thru telephone interviews. I'm supposed to report on May 23rd to electrical dept as one of their electricians. It's a temp position for 28 days, then 2weeks off. It's gonna be my first time there. If I'll Iike it and if I'll be treated right, then I'll stay.

Has that vessel done a damned thing since it came to the GoM?

A new vessel as it, and the high turnover, would throw up a red flag in my book.

I have heard Africa, but before that, I had heard Mexico. So not sure.

Of course, this also raises the question if the G1200 and 1201 are even worth a shit or are they just another NOBLE BULLY I & II. Too small, narrow and ill conceived for the job they are intended to do and too expensive to build in the process.

Both classes required sponsons to be added even before delivery (can you say design brain fart!) Now is both Technip and Noble stuck with two very expensive "special" vessels? At least in the case of the BULLY I & II they are guaranteed work since Shell owns half of each (which I am sure they wished they didn't now but that's Shell's fault and not Frontier's although Steve Meeheen is a well known "operator" from way back and beware ye who do business with thee.

Same as what is happening with Deck people. I said it before, and some people poo-pooed me. They are now hiring a complety new crew for about the 7th time, since they entered the Gulf a year ago. Good luck getting back from Africa once they get you there. i bet you'll be on your own. They are scabs!!!
