You will have to retake the class for the higher tonnage licenses ie: 500, 1600, third/second mate.

What ive heard is that there is no oceans on anything less than 500. Also the class for 500-1600 is just license prep, you still have to test at your rec.

No, at Fletcher you sit for the celestial and nav general. Now if its been a year since you've tested you will have to retest roles of the road.
Getting straight with Nate, because apparently getting right means your going to have to retake Nav Gen

Yes, you can get an Oceans endorsement on a 200 Ton license. You will have to have 360 8-hour/240 12 hour days on ocean or near coastal waters, WHILE holding your 200 Ton NC license.

Houston Marine Training in Kenner, LA has a CG approved course, which covers the "Navigation General" portion of the exam required. If you have not tested "Rules" with a year of your application you will have to test it again. We do offer the study material for rules also.

Our Coast Guard approval states that you can only use the Celestial Navigation once, which means you can either use it for OICNW training purposes OR testing purposes. EX: Once you take the celestial course and endorse it on your 200 Ton license, when you upgrade your license to 500 ton master, you will either have to take the course again or test it at the CG.

Any further questions, you can contact me at Houston Marine directly 504-468-4445 Mention this email and I will give you a 20% discount on the class. Our next class is March 5-16, 2012.

No ocean endorsement on *mate* licenses under 500grt. 200 ton master can be ocean.
