Sounds like to me your hypothetically on the fast track to a 12 step program. Ya just pretty much threw it all away, atleast for the next few years anyways.

They don't test for where you smoke, or if you had a scrip from haight ashbury. You either pop positive or you don't. There's really no tough luck involved. It's your choice. Boy...... No sympathy huh?

If you did test positive you are done with boats for a while. If you are asking a real hypothetical dont go to Amsterdam or anywhere else that has that sort of lifestyle.

Hypothetically, it would be a very stupid idea.

I thought it wasn't legal, but tolerated in the Netherlands. The bigger question, I would guess would be if one were partaking of the sham "medical marijuana" that certain states offer. Of course, I would imagine that the USCG, being a Federal entity, would not look kindly on any positive testing for the substance. Not anything that I ever had to worry about.

Is your hypothetical employer now looking to fill the spot vacated when you tested positive?

Hypothetically that person sounds a little to dumb/irresponsible to be working on the water. If you need to get high to relax then go work at McDonalds.

You are a bloody effing fool for posing such a "hypothetical" question in the first place. You transparently want to go to Amsterdam and toke away and then be able to get away with it and you want us here to tell you it is ok.

    Well we're not!

    what a G/D moron...

I just noticed this one. Kinda makes that "hypothetical" go a way , doesn't it.

    From the MMC Application:

Section III - Narcotics, DWI/DUI, and Conviction Record Conviction

Indicate your answers to the following questions; sign and date at the bottom of this section.

Have you ever been convicted of violating a dangerous drug law of the United States, District of Columbia, or any state, or territory of
the United States? (This includes marijuana.) (If yes, attach statement)

Have you ever been a user of/or addicted to a dangerous drug, including marijuana? (If yes, attach statement)

Are you admitting you lied on your application?

A couple of years ago, all DOT regulated employers were required to test 50% of employees.
Because of lower positive tests some industries were allowed lower test rates.

    From the DOT web site:

    Federal Aviation Administration [FAA]
    25%

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration [FMCSA]
    50%

    Federal Railroad Administration [FRA]
    25%

    Federal Transit Administration [FTA]
    25%

Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration [PHMSA]
    25%

United States Coast Guard [USCG] (now with the Dept. of Homeland Security)
    50%

Truck drivers and mariners continued to have high positive test results and were NOT allowed to lower the percentage of employees tested.
