Regulations for Self-Propelled Barges

Looking for information on regulations (CFR or ABS references) for the construction, manning and operation of self-propelled barges. Having been through the CFRs, I have failed to come up with specific references. Likewise on the ABS website. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I really don't know much about them but I would expect that it is just another motor vessel insofar as regs and such go.

There are differences - I do remember that a self-propelled barge does not have same emerg gen. requirements as your conventional "pointy-ended" vessel, among others, but can't site the exact CFR ref.
