Yeah, I saw the gyro incident and it made me LOL hard!

On a semi-unrelated note. how to active fin stabilizers work? I'm guessing they operate off a VRU similar to what you would find in a DP system?

The allegedly flagless ship, Bob Barker, is heading back to Australian port. If they flag has actually been officially pulled, which io suspect that it is. What will happen to the ship when it makes port?
Why has there been little word of the deflagging from the SSCS? Llyods still says it is flagged under Togo as of Feb 14th or around that date.
And for some reason they SSCS supports and kool-aid drinkers where in denial about the ship even being flagged in Togo

Your consistent lack of proper spelling, grammar, and syntax suggest that you yourself may be partaking of the kool-aid

I respect your enthusiasm- though I often disagree with you.

You will garner more positive attention to your cause if you learn to write more effectively.

As it stands- your combination of zeal and confused rambling makes you come across as being a little.. well..loony

Constructive criticism-for what it's worth. Anthony

The Steve Irwin has been boarded by the AFP after docking in Hobart the (flagless) Bob Barker is now entering port for the same fate.

The ship shouldn't even have been allowed free entry. It should have been boarded by the Australian Coast Guard then have them enter the port

TOKYO, March 7 (UPI) -- The Japan Coast Guard plans to arrest a New Zealand anti-whaling activist for trespassing on a ship in Japan's whaling fleet, sources say.

The incident happened in the Antarctic Ocean last month.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's Pete Bethune has been held on board the Shonan Maru No. 2 since the incident, Kyodo News reported. The ship is due to arrive in Tokyo Friday.

Kyodo said after the vessel arrives the Coast Guard plans to have the activist handed over for questioning.

Bethune was the captain of the Sea Shepherd vessel Ady Gil. The vessel was disabled after it clashed with the Japanese vessel in Antarctic waters in January, the report said.

Bethune traveled by jet ski from another protest vessel to present a protest letter to the captain of the Shonan Maru No. 2. The letter blamed the Japanese ship for the collision.

In Japan, conviction of trespassing on a vessel can carries a penalty of up to three years in prison or a maximum fine of 100,000 yen ($1,106), but Kyodo said such an offense usually doesn't result in an arrest.

Ha F*&%ing Ha ...I wondered what they would do with him. Sea Shepherd made enough of it when he got aboard then went quiet for a while.

I hope they actually have the balls to dish out some punishment this time. Seems like they caved in to the hippes last time they were boarded and released the guy without much consequence.

And here, for your entertainment are the letter this retard gave to the captain of the Shonan Maru and the invoice for the Ady Gil

I think the japs will probably make an example out of this one. Hopefully they hose him down and delice him before putting him in general population. Do they have "Bubba sex" in jap prisons? Are there any japs named Bubba? Maybe it is Bubba-son.

That being said. I hope the pending legislation and Peter Bafun's trial lead to the SSCS FINALLY being labeled as the terrorists they are. I bet more charges will come for Peter for all of the actions he did on camera
I get the impression you might just be a sushi eater. I am not trying to discredit anyone. I think it is pretty clear that all of the "real" mariners on here are appauled by the actions of this Hippie Ship. Being silly on this forum is not going to have an effect one way or the other on what the sea dummys do.

By the way, do you know how japs name their kids? They toss a quarter down a stairwell and listen. Ching chang bing bong zing.

The obviously rigged bullet to the chest stunt was a good one. The bullet was not deformed at all and was of a pistol caliber. He had no bruising from a gsw to kevlar as you would normally see even at that distance. If someone was gonna take a shot it wouldn't be a pot shot with a pea shooter.

Has anyone seen "The Cove". It is a documentary that Watson comments in and I think it was partially produced or scripted by Peter whats his face.

They are working on season 3 now but I have only seen one or two clips on American Sat. TV APL whale wars. I saw future clips of their little batmobile boat getting run over by a harpoon ship. That was good watching.

Who knew Bob Barker would lose it at such an age and give 5 million to these guys. I believe in the cause but if not to the extent of terrorism and violation of the Law of the High Seas.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers havn't had a hit in awhile. I guess the had to kick Watson off the tit.

I wanted to see what role Daryle Hannah was going to play in all this. I wonder if she would go to jap prison for the "cause".

I am surprised their has been little comentary on the new season of whale wars on APL.

They have overdramatized a few things but navigation wise they seem to have it somewhat more together this trip.

Maybe they spent some time drilling so they wouldn't look like complete idiots on tv anymore.

Expecting to launch the RIB in in rough seas while maintaining a high speed and not giving the boat a lee seemed pretty dumb.

All that money they spent on the Bob Barker and it can't even keep up with the slowest ship.

I guess after the batmobile got run over they probably would have resorted to ramming ships again if they could even catch them.

God, ya gotta wonder how much money they pissed away on the bat mobile that they could have put in a faster ship.

I bet it would have at least paid for a watermaker for the boat that lost all it's potable water and had to melt ice to resupply.

I have not seen Daryl Hannah. i thought she was riding along this trip.

Her ol' man's place is now a cleaning dock for tank barges. all of his boats sold in sheriff's auctions.

I could probably download the entire season off the net but i have been catching the newer episodes being rerun on my off watch.

The episode i saw was where the skipper of the bat mobile was preparing to board and serve an "arrest warrant" to the captain of the harpoon boat.

That should be good if he ever gets onboard.

Bet there will not be that much media coverage except what sea shepards generate.

Meanwhile.....Green Peace had a pretty successfull publicity stunt in Britian by locking up some high profile BP stations and pulling the fireman's switch to the pumps.

I had a chance to watch a documentary called The Cove. After watching that I have taken a little bit more of a liberal stance toward SS. Japan can be real bastards when it comes to the marketing of "sea food".

They poison their own kids with tainted meat. Watch the documentary and see.

anyway that's my 2 cents on season 3 of whale wars so far

Well last night Friday the 30th was a nail biter I must say. No shortage of total mismanagement by Captain Watson.
He goes to his stateroom and lets his inexperienced mates make crucial decisions that he should have been consulted on.

The near sinking of the Ribs in rough wx was bad enough and then the failed retrieval of the skiff that was lost in the night. They were lucky they were in safe harbor or they never would have found that grounded rib.

So the captain goes to bed without taking into consideration the wx might sink his skiffs that are in the water.
The Officer of The Watch is not informed the skiffs are taking on water until the engines have sunk below the waterline.
The idea of letting the skiffs just drift on current lines in the wx was pretty retarded. They should have been made off in the Lee of both of the larger vessels.

They get one skiff running and go find the other. They refloat the grounded skiff but instead of hooking up a nice long tow line to pull it off the beach the green deckhand / full time teacher on vacation saving the wales, decides to jump in the skiff and play cowboy destroying the entire lower unit on the skiff.
No worries, mate! We are headed to port anyway to fix out toy helicopter that keeps breaking on us.

God the money they spend. Have you noticed all the laptops are toughbooks? Priced one lately?
They are 5k for the bare bones basics and you know they got the best of everything on those.

So they are spending say 6k minimun on at least two laptops per boat when they could get some reasonable ones with the same or better operating systems on them for 600 bucks or so.

They buy a former whaling vessel that they find out after the 5 million is spent that is too slow to keep up with even the slowest ship which is the factory ship.

So now on the next episode (i can't wait) they crazy bald New Zealander captain is going to try to parachute his way on to one of the jap ships?

And it looks like since they can not keep up with the other vessels that they start ramming eachother.

Pretty smart in the antartic ocean where the nearest rescue may be up to 3000 miles away.

    Good stuff man.

    Entertaining.

The "captain" watson does not even know he has lost one skiff and the other has sunk and is water logged until the next morning around 8 am or so when he decides to saunter onto the bridge.

One would think that Bob Barker, who is probably senile by now, would take a look at the total mismanagement that costs thousands of dollars and decide that their donated dollars are not being spent wisely.

    Just one man's opinion
