Plantation Inn Houma

Hello, I will be in Houma next week. I was wondering if anyone has any info on the plantaion inn. How clean is it? Do the rooms stink? You know the usal stuff. Any info would be great. Thanks

"plantation inn"? sounds a bit sketchy. I have stayed at the Comfort Inn and it was OK. full of O&G people. swimming pool. good restaurant. free wifi. easy to get to. etc etc.

Houma has a whole lot of hotels. I don't think that I have stayed in the Plantation Inn, though. There is a Ramada across the street that isn't too bad. If the Comfort Inn is the one with the Holidome (enclosed pool), it is the old Holiday Inn and isn't too bad either. The bar there (the Tree House) is/was a pretty cool place to hang out, too. There are also the usual "business" hotels, Fairfield, Hampton, etc. close by, too. I guess it all depends on your budget. I am not lucky enough to avoid having to go to Houma from time to time, but am lucky enough to do it on business with the commensurate expense account.

I have stayed in the Plantation Inn in Moron City but didn't know there was one in Houma. If the one in Houma is anything like the one in Moron City, you wouldn't want to stay there. All the amenities of a flea-bag, crackhead, two dollar ho, skid row stop over. I don't think that there is much they can do to improve it short of tearing it down to the ground and rebuilding it. They may have done that since I stayed there many years ago though.............

There is a nice, very clean B&B in Raceland that caters to a lot of mariner types. WiFi and cable TV in the rooms, and has a good rate for students.

I've seen a few Chouest people there - they apparently prefer it to the free company housing.

The Plantation Inn in Houma is not like the one in Patterson (Morgan City). It's OK, has a restaurant and a bar. Will be full of oilfield hands but it is a decent hotel. http://www.bayoucountryinns.com/plantation/ Across the street is a Ramada Inn about the same. Stay away from the hotels on old 90, those are crack domains. Also stay away from the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks for all the info from everyone. I dont know about plantation inn thats in houma but it sounds like it is a good idea to stay the hell away from the one in MC. The company pays for the room at the plantaion in houma but if it is bad i will pay to stay some other place.

I noticed you were looking for lodging in the Houma area. That Chateau looks nice! I'm going there next time I'm down on the bayou. If I can get some shrimp and grits close by I'd be in second heaven. What a nice change from the motels down there.

I first stayed at the crack head in on the way into town. Forget the name. $20/night and all the scabies you can handle. I had to go the ER and get a full body cream to get rid of the critters before bringing them home. I then decided to stay at the plantation. they give a corporate discount to Fletcher students. and the longer you stay the more they discount. they were very accomodating. Oh, yeah before the crack head inn I stayed at miss maudrys. Unless you like a very intimate atmosphere avoid this place.
By the time I payed for the ER visit and got screwed out of the rest of my money by the dot head I would have come out better just staying at the plantation. you get what you pay for. yes the ramada and the other nicer hotels are nice. like someone else said it all depends on your budget. try to save a buck and you might get more ammenities than you planned for.

I was just in Houma doing a VSO class. I stayed at the HoJo's and it was VERY VERY VERY nice! Price varies depending on what time of week and how far in advance you book. I stayed 3 nights and it averaged $70 a night and I only booked it the day before I checked in.
