Default Young Memorial/ Where to stay

There are several hotels in Morgan City. Does anybody have any recommendations on where to stay or not stay while attending Young Memorial. (Louisiana technical college)

I have stayed at the Twin City Motel/Hotel. No bells or whistles, not fancy at all - Cheap place to sleep. Little diner out front which is convenient if you don't want to drive. My company put me up in the Plantation Inn in Paterson - Talk about a shit hole. Room was nasty as hell with that would glow if someone put a black light to it.

The Comfort Inn in Morgan City has a $49 rate for students. Nice, clean accomodations. 985.300.0035. Be sure to ask for the rate.

There is also a good Chinese restaurant right across the street with a very good buffet.

Just to be sure we are talking about the same place, the Louisiana Tech College in Morgan City is Young Memorial. L E Fletch is the one in Houma.

Which school will you be attending Rich, L.E. Fletcher in Houma or Young Memorial in Moron City?

    Morgan City Twin City Motel
My room had about 100+ cig burns on the carpet as well as butt burns on every flat surface. Heavy smell of smoke with the nicotine grease coating on everything. What ever you do DONT look under the sheets and look at the mattress! I did, big mistake. About 50 knife holes on the inside of door where some one practiced their knife throwing skills. Bathroom had hair and crud build up in every corner. Although the pink tile did draw my attention Obvious nobody cleans that well.

I slept in my car after paying my $49. Never again.

On the other hand, there is a city run RV park west of MC. Its out by Patterson. Take the road next to the jet fighter on display on the south side of the "4 lane." Go over the train tracks. I stayed there for $15/day including electricty. You'll need to sleep in a tent if youre in a car. They dont alow sleeping in cars/trucks/vans. Very quiet area, new clean laundry, good showers. Ill camp on the ground in the rain before I ever spend a night in the Twin Cities.

I am going to Young Memorial. I messed up putting Fletcher and couldn't go back and edit it. I have been trying to get in the GMDSS course but it has been filled up for months. I am taking the Radar course. I guess 27 years 5 months and 3 days as an Air Traffic Controller wasn't enough Radar time..

Skycowboy - For future reference, Young Memorial does not take reservations for classes until the first of the month of the month prior to the class. So if you wanted to sign up for the GMDSS class starting March 1, you need to call Young Memorial on Feb. 1, preferably when the office opens at 7:30 a.m.

You were surrounded by water for nine months prior to birth, could you tie a bowline when you were born?

I've had good luck at Twin City in Morgan Shitty. If you try to check in while the nice older lady (about 100 years old) is minding the store, be prepared to spend 20 minutes watching her do the paperwork!

My room was always clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff is friendly and accomodating, and the restaurant out front has the best biscuits and sausage gravy in south Louisiana.

It's a lot better than a tent on the ground in the rain, and better than most boats I've worked on. I've spent 20 nights there in the past year and I expect to spend 20 more in the next year.

Maybe I'm just lucky. My next stay my be hell. We'll see.

    Nemo

    P.S.

If you take GMDSS at Young and have Dan Mc as your instructor, chock your feet. I'd rather share a classroom with a porcupine. A more abrasive man I've never been around...and I've been around some.
