Hi Casper,
First off, congratulations on your 500 ton Master. But, I think I need a little more clarification before I can answer your question.
It sounds like you have an active application at
NMC. Is that true?
I'm a bit confused by your certificate question. You say that all your "certificates have expired as they were only valid for a year. Do I need to take BST/ADV Fire fighting/Med care provider/bridge resource mgtmt all over again?"
But, I'm pretty sure your BST certificate is good for 5 years, even if it isn't currently associated with an existing STCW certificate. There seems to be some debate about how long your ADV FF cert is good for, but at a minimum, I would say that it is good for 5 years as well. To the best of my knowledge, MED-PRO and BRM do not expire.
I'm thinking the easiest way to deal with this is to get in touch with your evaluator at
NMC and tell them that you want to amend your application to include STCW certification.
If you don't know who your evaluator is yet, email the iasknmc email address with your mariner number and reference number and ask them to forward it to your evaluator.
If you don't have an active application with
NMC, do you have the new MMC or an old style license? If the old style, do you not have an associated STCW-95 cert (the kind with your photo on the bottom)?
