Is that another name for a flying bridge?

This could be an interesting Thread... favorite nautical terms. Mine might be "Tapping the Admiral"... http://www.infoplease.com/dictionary...p-admiral.html

Perfect score... seems "iron mike" is being a "son of a gun" to many.

It is indeed! We were in drydock and the dock was installing a huge bracket for an internet satellite, and the guy I was with said something about monkey island. I looked at him like he was nuts, but when I mentioned the flying bridge, he did the same. Apparently to them, a flying bridge should have controls on it, like on a sportfishing boat or something. Another one was leading lights - I've always known them as range lights. Oh well - live and learn!

I'd like to say that since I wrote it I got a 100 but, for some odd reason, I thought ECDIS was Electronic Chart DISplay. I also didn't know the Brits called him "Metal Mike" untill I verified the answers.

Yes I've heard "Monkey Island" but was "trained" not to use it by a Capt who, after getting in an argument with the 2/m over the term, said "Fly through this hitch or chip paint with the monkeys, your choice". Still not sure his objection to the term since the topic wasn't brought up again.

Too embarrassed to say how many I missed the first time. Had to try again. For some odd reason it kept saying that 67% & 33% got the answer right. Maybe some of you are telling fish stories. HAH!

    100!
I don't know if that is a good thing, maybe I should get out more!
My wife has told me that I should read something different once and a while, she's tried of ordering me "boat books" for my next hitch reading material.

Better that than hearing about drinking, drug and partying exploits I have heard from some of your recent grads.

    Keep up the good work!

    BTW...100%

Oh baby. 12 for 12. Not bad for a person currently working as a doughnut sucking sand peep!

Sure, believe it was the area around the "tabernacle" where all the booms where seated on a yard and stay rig vessel. I could be wrong, it has been awhile.
