    Default Offshore Int'l Travel

    Good morning,

I am curious as to what OSV companies would provide opportunites for travel, rather than just week in week out in the GOM...from my research it appears Hornbeck, Chouest, and Tidewater send boats to various countries quite frequently...any other thoughts?

You will have better luck getting assigned to South America with some language skills, Spanish and Portuguese probably being the most useful. I have 3 former mates all working as masters for Chouest in Brazil, all speak fluent Portuguese, Spanish, or both.

Fairfield has two boats abroad these days. Well, four if you count the ones in Mexico.

Gulfmark has boats in Trinidad. Most of these companies only have American officers/foreign deck crews and cooks.
