Has anyone been able to post since page 174 thread 4350? I have been following this thread since the beginning and just wondering if I missed anything,Thanks

Ahh, I see we are back up and running. I guess with that first thread we discovered the limits of the software... Thanks for the new thread, John!
Yep, I too say Screw BP. And screw this rubbish of trying to claim it's all an inherited AMOCO problem. I beg to differ, and so does the US Chemical Safety Board. Anybody here ever read the report and/or watched the video about the Texas City explosion?
http://www.csb.gov/investigations/de...2&pg=1&F_All=y
If you stick it out and watch the video all the way to the final part where they're passing around the blame, you will discover that BP is criticized for a top-down culture that puts production ahead of safety, and more to the point the investigators comment that BP systematically gutted and destroyed the good safety culture AMOCO had created and maintained.
Edit: Up and running, but I still don't have my Thank You button back. Drat.

By going to {Forum Actions -> General Settings} and changing the number of posts displayed per page from "Forum Defaults" to "100" I was able to see a little ways beyond Post 4350. I don't think we missed much; looked to me like nobody could see beyond 4350 and they were posting away wondering why their posts were vanishing. So really there were only a few posts, but they were posted multiple times due to confusion...

dell, what is going on?
Sorry Alf. You are the man. Are you guys still having trouble posting on here? Every time I post it shows a data base error. The pic you posted shows a fire waaay off to one corner. I am wondering if that was a possible ignition source or just a vent line coming off diesel storage etc. Anyway thanks again for showing the diffewrent sources of energy to the fire.

Deleted due to duplication of message.
Alf, I guess it would be toward what was labeled the starboard aft corner. I checked the drawing you posted & couldn't identify an ignition/ energy source in that area. I also blew up the picture & you can see the blow coming out of the rig floor & not ignited at the point this picture was taken. the on take later shows massive fire in the middle of the rig. I'm not sure what all this tells us, but there is a message there to be interpreted.
Holy Chu! Recall the 2-pipe anomaly? It's back [from LATimes 6-29]...
... "The gushing BP oil well is a mystery still unfolding, and late last month, a team of scientists from the Energy Department discovered a new twist: Their sophisticated imaging equipment detected not one but two drill pipes, side by side, inside the wreckage of the well's blowout preventer on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.
BP officials said it was impossible. The Deepwater Horizon rig, which drilled the well, used a single pipe, connected in segments, to bore 13,000 feet below the ocean floor. But when workers cut into the wreckage to install a containment cap this month, sure enough, they found two pipes. ...

This 2-pipe anomaly in sheared BOP demands confirmation as either true or false. Did BP save lots of time/$ by not removing some unwanted pipe-thingy?
