Is it a new law or a revision of an old one? It is ENFORCEMENT of existing stuff that needs accomplishement.

Bottom line is if BP and MMS had read and followed their own rules and regulations in the first place, we would not be in the predicament we are now.

When industry and government are in bed together, it is like a Cougar and a gigolo, government is happy because they feel like they are facilitating commerce and not rocking the boat and industry gets what they want (4 minute permit approval and clueless enforcement) and the old bitch is happy.

Punish the individuals that ignored policy procedures and regulations to the fullest extent of the law including jail time and enforce the laws you have on the books. Quit closing the door after the horse has been left the barn.

A law written by people with no technical understanding of the device.

It should read "The 30,000 people out of work act"

For the purpose of the Act, "high risk well" pretty much included every well from what I read.

I've never drilled on a low risk well...except a few duster from XOM, but they shure hoped they were oil. Turned out to be salt water...oops 1 billion dollars spent and no oil. I don't see how its so cheap?

Also, if the BOP's now have to consist of 2x shear rams plus 2x casing shear rams, plus 2 or 3 pipe rams then the BOP is going to be a really big monster!

The new BOP's will be so big none of the current derricks will lift them. We will need to design, fund and build new rigs before anyone goes back to work.
