Why can't an operating rig in the GOM get one to keep the fishing boats away? I've seen line and hooks caught on the riser, in the HiPAP's, and ADCP. We even lost comms with the ADCP because of a hook in the wire.
We deal with the same thing on conventional rigs with monofilament caught on the PCC wires. When the rig passes the wires to our stern, the wire chases down the catenary under our stern, and it's easy to get that mess caught in our shaft seals.
