How hard is it get hired/shipped out for 30 days after the first DP course?

Heard lots of horror stories like no one wants to hire a novice or something.

Or a certain institute like Kongsberg or Transocean can only place you to the drill ship etc....

Your kind guidance will be highly appreciated.
